KATSEYE ‘Internet Girl’ Surges Back Into Spotify Global

KATSEYE has scored a notable resurgence on the Spotify Global Top 50 chart, with their breakout single ‘Internet Girl’ climbing back into the elite ranking weeks after its initial debut. The track, which first entered at No. 13 on January 2 with 2.9 million opening-day streams, now holds strong across international markets while expanding its reach through viral trends and high-profile cosigns.

Formed through HYBE and Geffen Records’ 2023 survival competition The Debut: Dream Academy, the group comprising Daniela, Lara, Megan, Sophia, Manon, and Yoonchae blends K-pop’s signature production polish with global pop sensibilities in this retro-futuristic cut. Since its release, ‘Internet Girl’ has charted in over 40 countries, landing at No. 15 in Singapore, No. 29 in the United States, and securing a spot in the top 10 of Spotify’s Viral 50 in Brazil and India.

In an exclusive development verified by industry sources, the track’s recent uptick is tied to a surprise collaborative challenge launched this week with LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin, who shared a dance cover to her TikTok Account. The clip has amassed 12 million views in three days, driving a 35% spike in streams across Southeast Asia with particularly strong growth in Indonesia and Thailand.

Critical reception remains divided: while fans praise the track’s infectious energy and nostalgic synth-driven sound, some music journalists have questioned its lyrical depth and raised concerns about HYBE’s promotional strategy, noting the label’s heavy investment in social media placement over radio airplay. Despite this, the group’s momentum shows no signs of slowing their follow-up single ‘Gabriela’ currently sits at No. 19 on the Spotify Global Top 50, marking KATSEYE as the first act from The Debut: Dream Academy to land two simultaneous entries in the chart’s top 20.

Our goal was to make music that connects across borders, regardless of language or background,” said group member Manon in a statement provided to international press. “Seeing fans around the world make the song their own means more than any chart position.”

Industry analysts project ‘Internet Girl’ could push into the global top 20 by mid-January, as the group prepares for their first live performance in Seoul later this month, with additional tour dates planned for Europe and North America in the second quarter of 2026.
