BTS are reportedly in talks to hold a free public concert at Gwanghwamun Square in downtown Seoul in conjunction with their upcoming full-group comeback in March, according to multiple media reports and agency commentary.
The speculation comes as BTS prepares to release their fifth studio album, Arirang, scheduled for March 20, 2026 a highly anticipated milestone marking the septet’s first major group comeback in nearly four years. Industry sources say BigHit Music has applied for permission from the Cultural Heritage Administration to host and film a performance not only at Gwanghwamun Square but also at nearby historical sites including Gyeongbokgung Palace and Sungnyemun Gate.
Representatives from BigHit Music confirmed on January 19 that discussions are ongoing, stating that final details regarding venue approval, scheduling, and logistics are still being finalized and will be announced once confirmed.
Gwanghwamun Square one of Seoul’s most iconic public spaces has been at the center of growing fan excitement, as BTS’s promotional campaign has already taken over parts of the surrounding area with large-scale visuals and installations tied to Arirang. The inclusion of key cultural landmarks reflects an apparent intention to tie the group’s comeback to broader Korean heritage themes.
Local reports suggest that the free concert initiative could attract tens of thousands of fans, with possibilities being discussed for some form of pre-registration to manage attendance given the expected public turnout. While a final decision has not been publicly confirmed, industry watchers note that Seoul authorities and the agency are working closely to ensure safety and crowd control measures.
BTS’s world tour, tied to the Arirang album cycle, is already scheduled to kick off on April 9 in Goyang and will span numerous global cities through 2026 and into early 2027.
For now, ARMY worldwide eagerly awaits the official announcement hopeful that BTS will bring their comeback to the heart of Seoul in a way that is both historic and accessible for fans at home.
