Promising young singer Kim Da-hyun (17) has initiated formal legal proceedings against her former management company, alleging that she was denied millions of won in unpaid performance fees and related earnings, according to court filings and statements from her current agency.
Kim’s representation, Hyun Company, announced on Wednesday that the artist has filed criminal complaints at Gangnam Police Station against the former agency’s CEO and an affiliated parent company executive on charges of suspected fraud and embezzlement.
The dispute centers on appearances and engagements dating from September to October 2025, during which Kim reportedly generated substantial performance income that was never settled by her previous management. Hyun Company says repeated requests for payment since November 2025 went unanswered, prompting both legal and civil measures.
Prior to filing the criminal complaint, Hyun Company secured a payment order and asset seizure request through the Seoul Central District Court, a move typically pursued when contractual negotiations break down and financial obligations remain unmet.
Kim first rose to national prominence through her strong showing on TV Chosun’s Miss Trot 2 in 2021, finishing third and earning widespread recognition in the competitive trot singing genre. She later earned MVP honors on MBN’s K-Japan Uta Festival, and has been actively expanding her solo discography since 2020.
In January 2026, Kim signed with Hyun Company, which has backed her growth across live shows and recording projects. The agency said the legal steps taken this week aim to protect the artist’s rights and ensure her “mental well-being and financial security” as a rising figure in Korea’s entertainment industry.
Both the former agency and its executives have not yet issued a public response.
