ENHYPEN member Sunghoon successfully finished his part in the 2026 Winter Olympics torch relay in Milan on February 5, and not only did he attract a passionate crowd but he also showed his amazing story of changing from a top sportsman to a K, pop star.
Sunghoon, who is well known for his energetic and lively attitude both in shows and sports, ran with the Olympic torch holding it closely with feeling at the Bolivar Station, where a number of very enthusiastic fans were waiting for him. That event was a symbolic coming together of sports and showbiz, thus recognizing Koreas cultural impact on the world.
In statements given via his agency, Sunghoon talked about the special meaning that such an experience can hold for him. He said, I feel very privileged to be standing on the same spot where many great heroes have stood before me. I am representing Korea not only as an artist but also as a person whose life has been very much centered on sports. These words of his became a bridge connecting the world of music and sports, as they talked about his strong attachment to sports, competition, and the sense of being a part of the nation.
Sunghoon was a figure skater for almost ten years before he decided to go into show business, and during that time he even got to be the national reserve squad of Korea, the fact which made the whole experience even more emotional for him.
In addition, he honored figure skater Cha Jun, hwan and young talent Kim Hyun, gyeom during the ceremony and said that he considered them as the people who motivated him to go on with his sports career. He explained that his rapport with these athletes illustrates the continuous flow from sport to cultural ambassadorship, showing the mutual reinforcement of athletic excellence and pop culture on a global scale.
Sunghoon’s anchor leg finish triggered an outpouring of fandom on the web and the cultural icons of South Korea firmly establishing their elevated status through participation in international sporting events were once again confirmed as the Olympics Games draw near.
