JYP Entertainment and EDAM Entertainment have issued a statement about implementing legal measures to only the extent of stalking and harassment of artists, which is considered scolding behavior, in a stronger manner of industry flouting people.

JYP Entertainment released a statement that it is working with the police after an incident in January where the band Xdinary Heroes‘ dormitory was broken into. The agency stated that the investigation is targeting the suspects who are accused of trespassing and filming the artists’ residence without their consent. JYP expressed that they have taken out restraining orders and the attendance at events has been permanently banned for the perpetrators. The company reiterated that safety and privacy of artists are the most important issues to them and they will keep on reacting with strong legal measures against such crimes.

On the other hand, EDAM Entertainment has gone public with details about the legal battle it is waging against an abusive online scandal directed at singer and actress IU. The agency revealed that it had taken the matter to court against various online harassers in 2025 which resulted in a number of rulings where the defendants were ordered to pay huge sums and were given suspended jail terms.

Furthermore, EDAM stated that the agency is looking into the issue of threats against IU’s home and is working with both local and international authorities.
The aforementioned statements have caused a great emotional response among fans and a considerable number of them expressed their sympathies with the agencies’ work. Supporters on social media lauded the companies for setting firmer limits in the matter and thus paving the way to a better and healthier fandom culture.
People who are very familiar with the industry acknowledge that such steps are a part of a larger trend in the South Korean entertainment world where more serious measures to sternly deal with stalking and cyber harassment are being introduced.
The cases of Xdinary Heroes and IU serve as examples to the point that as agencies move forward with implementation of tougher legal measures, the issue of safe environment for artists and their engagements with fans are getting more and more spotlights.
