LUCY Cancels Official Light Stick Release Following Fan Backlash

Mystic Story has announced the immediate cancellation of LUCY’s first official light stick, just hours after its design was revealed to the public, following significant backlash from fans.

The band had unveiled the concept earlier on Tuesday, showcasing a design shaped like a dog bone. The concept was intended to be a playful reference to their fandom name, “Walwal,” which is derived from the Korean onomatopoeia for the sound of a dog barking. Additionally, the product featured rings at the top, allowing it to be worn as a necklace.

However, the reveal was met with immediate criticism from supporters. Many expressed disappointment with the overall aesthetic, while others voiced concerns that the design reinforced negative perceptions associated with the fandom name itself. The negative feedback spread rapidly across social media platforms, prompting the agency to take swift action.

In an official statement released the same evening, Mystic Story acknowledged the public sentiment and confirmed the cancellation.
Hello.
This is Mystic Story.

We are making an announcement regarding the official light stick that was revealed today.
We humbly and seriously accepted the many opinions that you sent us through various channels, and after an internal reconsideration of the matter in question, we have decided to cancel the release.

We sincerely apologize for the fact that, through this process, we wound up disconcerting the people who are giving [LUCY] so much support.
Once again, we deeply apologize for having caused discomfort, and we will work even harder so that the love and expectations you give us will not be in vain.

Thank you.”

They issued a sincere apology for causing discomfort and confusion among fans, pledging to work harder to meet expectations in the future. The sudden reversal highlights the strong influence of fan opinion and the importance of visual identity in the K-pop industry.
