ZEROBASEONE (ZB1) has officially surpassed 10 million cumulative album sales according to Hanteo Chart data. This makes the nine-member group the first from the fifth generation to reach the elite “10 million seller” club, a benchmark long associated with top-tier acts.
Formed through Mnet’s Boys Planet survival show, ZB1 comprising members Sung Han-bin, Kim Ji-woong, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, Park Gun-wook, and others debuted in July 2023 with Youth in the Shade. That rookie effort made history as the first K-pop debut album to achieve double million-seller status. Momentum built quickly: their second mini-album Melting Point followed suit with back-to-back double million sales. Subsequent releases, including You Had Me at HELLO, Cinema Paradise, Blue Paradise, and their first full-length NEVER SAY NEVER, each crossed the million-unit threshold, creating an unprecedented streak of six consecutive million-sellers from debut.
The latest chapter came with their sixth mini-album Ascend-, released on May 18. It claimed the top spot on Hanteo’s daily physical chart on day one and dominated QQ Music’s digital album chart in China. Lead single “TOP 5” blends nostalgic 2000s dance-pop with contemporary R&B and hip-hop rhythms, reflecting the group’s evolving musical identity. The music video shattered the group’s previous records, reaching 40 million views in record time and ranking second globally in 24-hour YouTube views.
Industry observers note that ZB1’s consistent commercial dominance highlights the strength of 5th-generation acts in building loyal international fandoms through strong discography quality and strategic global promotions. Their ability to maintain momentum across physical, digital, and streaming platforms sets a new standard for newer groups navigating a saturated market.
