South Korean indie band SORAN has unveiled a breezy new collaboration that captures the essence of early summer. On May 27, the group released their latest single “ceremony,” featuring (G)I-DLE’s MIYEON, through various music platforms at 6 PM KST.
The track is a reimagined version of Japanese band Awesome City Club’s original song of the same name. Under the production of Brother Su, SORAN has infused the piece with their signature warm, band-driven sound while preserving the original’s light and sincere emotional tone. Gentle piano melodies, acoustic guitar rhythms, and tasteful brass accents create an airy, refreshing atmosphere perfect for the season.

What stands out most is the harmonious blend between SORAN’s comforting, approachable vocals and MIYEON’s clear, delicate tone. The two artists bring distinct emotional layers to the song one evoking closeness and the other a subtle, lingering distance resulting in a richer listening experience. The accompanying music video visually complements this by portraying the artists in shared yet somehow separate spaces, enhancing the track’s nuanced feelings of gentle longing and warmth.
This release holds special significance as it marks the first time SORAN has dropped both Korean and English versions of a single simultaneously. The English edition isn’t a direct translation; instead, it underwent careful re-adaptation to naturally adjust melodies and phrasing for the language, offering a fresh perspective on the same emotional core.
SORAN has been particularly active in 2026, releasing four singles in the first half of the year alone including “Delivery,” “Drawing One Apple,” and a 2026 version of “Tonight I’m Scared of the Dark.” Their consistent output highlights the band’s versatility and ongoing creative momentum. Collaborating with MIYEON, a prominent idol known for her vocal prowess, further expands SORAN’s reach toward broader audiences while showcasing natural synergy between different musical worlds.
Fans and industry observers alike are praising the collaboration for its organic charm and seasonal appeal. As summer approaches, “ceremony” arrives as a timely soundtrack inviting listeners to pause, reflect, and embrace life’s quiet, heartfelt moments.
