Sungho of BOYNEXTDOOR is set to release his first solo original soundtrack, marking a significant milestone in the young artist’s career as he contributes to the live-action adaptation of 5 Centimeters per Second.

The track, titled “One More Time, One More Chance,” will be unveiled on February 25 to coincide with the film’s Korean theatrical release. Originally created for the animated version directed by Makoto Shinkai, the song has long been associated with the story’s themes of longing, distance, and the passage of time. The original performance by Masayoshi Yamazaki became a defining emotional element of the 2007 film.

Industry observers say Sungho’s reinterpretation aims to bridge nostalgia with a contemporary K-pop vocal style, reflecting the evolving crossover between Korean pop artists and cinematic soundtracks. Early fan reactions across social media platforms highlight praise for the singer’s expressive delivery, describing it as a fitting complement to the film’s bittersweet narrative centered on young love tested by separation.

The release also signals a strategic expansion for BOYNEXTDOOR, a group formed under HYBE’s affiliate label. Entertainment analysts note that OST participation often provides idols with opportunities to showcase vocal depth beyond group promotions while strengthening ties between the music and film industries.

Production officials involved in the live-action adaptation emphasized that the soundtrack plays a central role in preserving the emotional resonance of the original story while introducing it to a new generation of audiences.

With anticipation building ahead of the film’s premiere, Sungho’s solo OST debut is expected to draw attention from both K-pop listeners and longtime fans of the beloved franchise, reinforcing the growing synergy between global pop acts and cinematic storytelling.
