BLACKPINK’s ‘DEADLINE’ Sets New Benchmark in Girl Group Sales and Global Charts
BLACKPINK isn’t slowing down. Their new mini-album, DEADLINE, dropped on February 27 and immediately set records. Just three days in, they sold 1.47 million physical copies a huge number for any group, but especially for a girl group right now. It’s just further proof of how much power BLACKPINK holds, not only at home but all over the world.

The title track, “GO,” caught fire almost instantly. It landed on Spotify’s Global Daily Chart and racked up millions of streams right out of the gate. Over on YouTube, the music video shot straight to the top of the global music rankings. Fans clearly can’t get enough of both the sound and the visuals.

But it’s not just about the lead single. Every track from DEADLINE showed up on Spotify’s charts, and the album hit No. 1 on iTunes in more than 40 countries. BLACKPINK’s reach is everywhere Asia, North America, Europe, you name it.
Fans got involved too, organizing streaming parties online to keep the momentum going through launch week. There were a few little dips in daily sales, and people talked about it online, but industry watchers say that’s totally normal early on and doesn’t take away from how big this release is.
Plenty of people see DEADLINE as more than just a commercial win. It looks like a smart move to go even more global, especially with all the talk about a possible world tour coming up. At this point, BLACKPINK’s massive debut with DEADLINE just cements them as one of the most powerful forces in pop music right now.
