Seo Youngeun to Leave Kep1er Agencies Confirm Group Will Continue as Six
Seo Youngeun is leaving Kep1er. WakeOne and KLAP Entertainment put out a joint statement confirming it. They said they talked things through with her, and Youngeun has decided to wrap up her time with the group. From here on out, Kep1er moves forward as six: Choi Yujin, Shen Xiaoting, Kim Chaehyun, Kim Dayeon, Hikaru, and Huening Bahiyyih.
In their statement, the agencies thanked Youngeun for everything she’s done and said the group respects her choice. The members are backing her as she heads in a new direction.
Youngeun actually stepped back from group activities in mid-2025 because of health issues. She stayed on hiatus for a few months before the news about her leaving came out.
Kep1er got its start in January 2022, put together through the Girls Planet 999 survival show. They started with nine members, but things have changed a lot since then. Mashiro and Kang Yeseo also left in 2024, so the lineup has shifted more than once.
The reaction from fans online has been a mix some are sad, some are supportive, and a lot of people are just grateful for everything Youngeun brought to Kep1er over the past four years. She was there for international promotions, albums, and helped build the group’s global fanbase.
Nobody’s said what’s next for Youngeun yet, but her agencies promised to keep supporting her moving forward. As for Kep1er, the group isn’t slowing down. The six members will keep promoting together as they start a new chapter.
