BOYNEXTDOOR’s 20-year-old rapper and leader Jaehyun left fans melting during a candid Weverse Live session when he opened up about a recent nerve-wracking encounter with his longtime idol, BTS’ Jungkook, inside their shared HYBE building.
Speaking openly to ONEDOOR, Jaehyun described spotting Jungkook from about 30 meters away and instantly recognizing him from behind. “My hands started shaking so badly while I was heading to the bathroom,” he recalled with a shy laugh
“I saw him passing by the company from about 30 meters away, and I recognized him just from his back, but I got so nervous that my hands started shaking while I was heading to the bathroom. Then I waited for him to leave, and afterward I went to the gym, but he was there too, and I felt like I couldn’t even breathe in the same space as him. So I said hi and got out of there. Seriously, I was so nervous, in a way, he’s my first school crush, so it’s not easy“

The young artist went further, calling Jungkook his “first love” from school days and revealing years of admiration for tracks like “My You.” He expressed dreams of one day collaborating and even attempting a dance challenge together, though nerves clearly got the better of him this time.
The heartfelt story quickly spread across social media, sparking a wave of affectionate memes. Fans playfully swapped the usual “father-son” K-pop senior-junior dynamic for “wife-husband” or “school crush” vibes, flooding timelines with edits, reaction clips, and supportive messages celebrating the genuine bond between generations.
Jaehyun’s honesty highlights the human side of K-pop’s hierarchical yet supportive culture, where even rising leaders remain wide-eyed fans at heart. BOYNEXTDOOR, who debuted in 2023 under KOZ Entertainment (a HYBE label), continue to gain momentum with their energetic performances and relatable charm.
The anecdote has only strengthened the group’s connection with fans, many of whom now jokingly urge Jungkook to notice his “adorable junior” and grant that long-awaited challenge. For now, Jaehyun’s starstruck moment serves as a sweet reminder that even idols have idols — and sometimes the biggest dreams start with a shaky hello in the hallway.
