SM Entertainment announced on April 6, 2026, that NCT member Ten will depart the agency after the conclusion of his exclusive contract on April 8, while confirming that he will remain actively involved with both WayV and the broader NCT project.
The Thai-born performer, who debuted in 2016 as part of NCT U, has been with SM for a full decade. In a personal message shared with fans, Ten expressed deep gratitude to the company staff, his fellow members, and supporters. He emphasized his commitment to continue promoting as “Ten of NCT and WayV” and hinted at pursuing new solo challenges in the future.
According to the agency’s statement, the decision followed “careful and in-depth discussions” between Ten and SM.

The company stated it will support Ten’s ongoing group activities moving forward, ensuring a smooth transition without disrupting WayV or NCT schedules.

This development stands in contrast to Mark’s recent full departure from both NCT and SM Entertainment earlier this week. Fans have reacted with noticeable relief that Ten will stay within the NCT system, viewing it as a positive outcome that preserves the group’s unity. Many celebrated the news as a meaningful milestone on his 10-year anniversary.
Ten has played a key role in WayV’s success as the unit’s main dancer and vocalist, while also contributing to various NCT subunits. His elegant stage presence and multilingual abilities have helped expand the group’s reach across Asia.
As of now, Ten has not revealed specific details about his new solo plans or future management. The announcement has brought reassurance to fans who feared a complete exit from the NCT universe following recent contract changes within the expansive SM boy group system.
Pledis and other HYBE labels have not commented, but the news reinforces the evolving nature of artist contracts in today’s K-pop industry, where members increasingly seek greater flexibility while maintaining group affiliations.
