TWICE’s Dahyun Marks Birthday With ₩30 Million Donation to Help Leukemia Patients

Dahyun of global K-pop group TWICE has marked her birthday in her signature heartfelt way: by giving back. On May 28, she turned 28 and donated 30 million won (about ₱1.2 million) to the Ulsan Social Welfare Community Chest, earmarking the full amount for leukemia patients in the region facing financial barriers to treatment.

According to her agency JYP Entertainment, the funds will directly cover hospital bills, medication, and care costs for patients and families struggling to afford essential care. “I wanted to share all the love I’ve received over the years, especially on my birthday,” Dahyun said in a statement. “I hope this small gesture brings even a little strength and comfort to everyone fighting hard against illness.”

This is far from her first act of kindness. Since early in her career, she has consistently used her platform for good. In 2020, she gave 50 million won to COVID-19 relief efforts. In 2023, she joined her TWICE bandmates to donate 200 million won for children and families affected by the devastating Turkey–Syria earthquakes. Last year, she sent another 50 million won to help survivors of massive wildfires in Ulsan’s Ulju County an act that earned her membership in Ulsan Honor Society, the city’s exclusive group of top individual donors.

While she makes headlines for her generosity, her group is also making history. TWICE is currently on their largest-ever world tour, This Is For, drawing huge crowds across continents. Just last week, at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles, they became the first K-pop girl group ever to win Best Female K-Pop Artist, cementing their status as pioneers of the global wave.

Fans and observers often note that Dahyun’s quiet, steady giving matches her warm, bright personality seen on stage and screen. For her, celebrating life means lifting others up and this birthday gift will make a real difference for many families in need.
