MBC has officially canceled its overseas broadcast event “Show! Music Core in Macau,” originally scheduled for February 7 and 8, citing unexpected local circumstances and logistical complications. The announcement came after internal reviews determined that the event could not proceed under stable operational conditions, disappointing fans who had anticipated a rare international edition of the long-running music show.

The Macau lineup was set to feature several high-profile K-pop acts, including ENHYPEN, BOYNEXTDOOR, ZEROBASEONE, and special hosts such as TWS member Dohoon. The event had generated strong pre-event buzz, particularly among international fans planning to travel for the live recordings.

While MBC’s statement broadly referenced “local conditions,” industry insiders suggested that visa processing difficulties and cross-border travel constraints played a significant role, especially for Japanese members of participating groups. Regional diplomatic sensitivities and tightened entry procedures reportedly complicated preparations behind the scenes, ultimately leading to the broadcaster’s decision to withdraw the event.

Artists and fans alike expressed mixed reactions. WayV’s Xiaojun shared disappointment online, noting excitement over the planned setlist. Meanwhile, ENHYPEN’s fanbase responded with divided sentiments some expressing frustration over lost opportunities, while others acknowledged concerns surrounding member participation and fairness in scheduling.

MBC issued an apology to ticket holders and global viewers, promising full refunds and stating that efforts are underway to reschedule an overseas Music Core event in a more stable environment later this year. The broadcaster emphasized its commitment to delivering international experiences while ensuring safety and fairness for performers and audiences.
