The older brother of the late actress Sulli has directed a pointed message at actor Kim Soo-hyun. The post appeared on social media shortly after Seoul authorities disclosed findings in a high-profile defamation investigation.
On May 21, Choi posted: “The moment you crawl out again, it’s round two. The choice is yours.” When a friend asked who the message was aimed at, he replied, “There’s someone from the stars over there” a clear allusion to Kim Soo-hyun’s iconic drama My Love from the Star.
The timing aligns with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station’s announcement that they had requested a bench warrant for Kim Se-ui, head of the YouTube channel Hoverlab. Kim Se-ui, working alongside representatives of the late Kim Sae-ron’s family, had alleged that Kim Soo-hyun dated the young actress while she was a minor. Police investigators determined that the submitted evidence including messenger screenshots, voice recordings, and audio files was entirely fabricated.
This latest episode builds on previous friction between Sulli’s family and Kim Soo-hyun. Choi has previously claimed that during filming of the 2017 movie Real, Sulli was allegedly pressured into filming explicit bed and exposure scenes despite the script not requiring it and a stand-in being available.
Kim Soo-hyun’s agency countered that all scenes were handled professionally with prior consent and contractual agreement.
The renewed attention highlights the ongoing challenges of online speculation, family grief, and accountability in K-pop and drama circles. While Sulli’s brother has not issued a full statement, his brief but direct words suggest unresolved feelings years after his sister’s passing in 2019.
Industry observers note that such public exchanges continue to fuel debates about the pressures faced by young stars and the role of digital platforms in amplifying unverified claims. As the legal process against the YouTube channel head moves forward, many are watching to see whether further responses emerge from Kim Soo-hyun’s side.
