South Korean singer and producer MC Mong (real name Shin Dong-hyun) is confronting fresh controversy after CCTV footage linked to alleged prostitution activities was shared publicly, sparking concern among residents of his apartment complex and renewed scrutiny of his personal conduct.
The allegations first surfaced this week when a segment on TV Chosun’s current affairs program highlighted claims from a video posted on the YouTube channel Let’s Get It. According to journalist Kim Sung-min, several neighbors reported repeated unusual activity at the building where MC Mong lives around June 2025. Management reportedly reviewed elevator security footage after residents complained that the apartment might be used for prostitution.
The released footage allegedly shows MC Mong or an acquaintance riding an elevator late at night with three women believed by some observers to be hostesses from entertainment establishments. Residents, disturbed by the repeated comings and goings, reportedly filed complaints with building management, prompting the review and release of the video.
In response to the reports, MC Mong has denied any prostitution involvement, asserting that the gathering was a casual dinner and wine meeting with friends. He stressed that working at adult entertainment venues does not equate to engaging in prostitution. However, journalists covering the story maintain that some of the women in the footage are employed in such establishments.
Amid the controversy, MC Mong is said to have indicated he would “step down” from professional duties within his agency to address the matter. No formal legal investigation into the allegations has been announced, and MC Mong has not issued a detailed official statement beyond his initial explanation.
This latest development follows earlier disputes involving MC Mong’s past personal controversies, including separate allegations unrelated to this incident.
