Stray Kids Member Seungmin to Miss Governors Ball Amid Ankle Fracture Recovery

Stray Kids member Seungmin will officially sit out the upcoming Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City to prioritize his health. The group’s agency, JYP Entertainment, confirmed that the vocalist has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left ankle, requiring an immediate reduction in physical exertion and long-distance travel.
The performance on June 6 will move forward with the remaining seven members.
A Prolonged Battle with Injury
The roots of the injury trace back to November 2025, when Seungmin first experienced acute foot inflammation. Despite the pain, he continued to participate in comeback promotions, major award shows, and intensive fan events. The non-stop schedule ultimately aggravated the condition, leading doctors to diagnose a full stress fracture in early 2026.
While medical professionals previously permitted limited movement for local engagements, they have now placed a strict ban on strenuous physical activities and long overseas flights.
Timeline of Seungmin's Ankle Injury:
[Nov 2025] Initial foot inflammation detected
[Mar 2026] Diagnosed with a suspected stress fracture
[May 2026] Confirmed withdrawal from Governors Ball for specialized care

Fan Reaction and Label Accountability
The announcement triggered immense conversation across global music communities. On platforms like X and Instagram, fans launched the hashtag #JYPRrespectSeungmin, raising concerns over whether the label provided timely medical intervention during his initial 2025 symptoms.
In response to the backlash, JYP Entertainment released a statement emphasizing a shift toward proactive medical care. “We will continue to prioritize our artist’s health above all else and do our utmost to ensure that he receives more proactive and professional treatment moving forward,” the agency shared.

Hello, this is JYPE.
We would like to inform you about Stray Kids member Seungmin’s schedule.

Back in March, Seungmin experienced pain in his left ankle and was advised of the possibility of a stress fracture, after which he has been receiving ongoing treatment. Following additional examinations, he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left ankle, and is currently focusing on treatment and recovery while undergoing further detailed examinations regarding related symptoms and potential associated conditions.

Although he has been avoiding strenuous physical activities and taking sufficient rest in his daily life, in order to focus on a full recovery, he will be minimizing long-duration flights and travel in confined spaces. Accordingly, Seungmin will continue to focus on sufficient rest, ongoing treatment, and monitoring his recovery progress.

As a result, we regret to inform you that Seungmin will unfortunately be unable to attend The Governors Ball Music Festival, which will take place in New York on June 6 (local time), and the performance will proceed with the remaining 7 members of Stray Kids. We sincerely apologize to the fans who have been looking forward to the performance for this sudden news.

We will continue to prioritize our artist’s health above all else and do our utmost to ensure that he receives more proactive and professional treatment moving forward.

Thank you”
